That’s exactly what we achieved in the renovation of the Combarranquilla Planetarium. But before getting to that point, there were challenges, adjustments, and most importantly, a shared vision with Combarranquilla, one of the first institutions that believed in Schallertech’s ability to transform spaces.<\/p>\n

That’s exactly what we achieved in the renovation of the Combarranquilla Planetarium. But before reaching that point, there were challenges, adjustments, and above all, a shared vision with Combarranquilla, one of the first institutions that believed in Schallertech’s capability to transform spaces.<\/p>\n

The First Meeting: Beyond the Stars<\/h2>\n

I remember the first meetings with the executives of Combarranquilla Family Compensation Fund<\/a>. At that time, our portfolio was full of high-end residential projects, but nothing in the corporate sector. However, we were confident that we could apply our experience in audiovisual technology to a larger and more ambitious project. After several months, we received the invitation to review the Planetarium renovation project.<\/p>\n

The Budget Dilemma: Creativity to the Rescue<\/h2>\n

We got to work. We visited recently renovated planetariums in Medell\u00edn and Bogot\u00e1, and we got in touch with German companies specialized in dome projectors. The result was an astronomical budget, over one million dollars. But here comes the interesting part:<\/p>\n

They told us they only had 10% of the budget we had proposed. Our response? “Phew, let us redesign the project and we’ll make the best project with that 10%”.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And so we did. We reviewed what could be done with that 10% and were incredibly creative.<\/p>\n

Among the game stations and interactive floors, it’s impossible not to stop and reflect on the crucial role technology is playing in transforming spaces like museums and planetariums. But why is it so important?<\/p>\n

Remember the first time you went to a museum. You were probably confronted with a series of objects behind glass, untouchable and static. Technology breaks that glass barrier, allowing for a more immersive experience. You don’t just see an asteroid; now you can “squash” it with your own feet.<\/p>\n

Technology turns learning into a participatory activity. Imagine learning about constellations not just by looking up, but interacting with them through a touchscreen or even hand gestures. This type of active learning has proven to be much more effective than passive learning.<\/p>\n

With technology, museums can offer personalized experiences. Have a particular interest in Mars? Follow a specific route on your visit that immerses you in everything related to the Red Planet. Additionally, assistive technologies make museums more accessible to people with disabilities, opening up entire worlds for everyone.<\/p>\n

Technology also allows museums to connect with similar institutions around the world. Imagine a joint exhibition between a museum in Bogot\u00e1 and another in Tokyo, all perfectly synchronized thanks to cutting-edge technology.<\/p>\n

We created game stations that combine fun and learning<\/p>\n

, using augmented reality to make the planets “come to life” in the kids’ hands. Each station has a specific theme, such as the Solar System, Space Exploration, or Astronomy Basics. There are also interactive floors where you can stomp asteroids, among other activities.<\/p>\n

Networking: Bringing the Stars to Life<\/h3>\n

We installed an advanced network of computers and servers to manage the entire Planetarium experience. And guess what? It’s all managed from a single console, making it easier to troubleshoot and control all the interactive elements.<\/p>\n
